You Can Heal Your Life by Louise Hay- the book
Louise Hay’s book You Can Heal Your Life has been in publication and on bestseller lists since 1985.
One of my close friends call it her ‘health bible’ and I always have a copy or two on hand, since there is often a friend around who needs to borrow it.
Louise Hay’s groundbreaking work in my view was based partly on her intuition, or inner guidance, that words spoken in a positive frame help shift our minds and bodies into a better state, or chemical balance.
Modern science now proves what Louise Hay intuited after much work, study and many workshops with people from all walks of life – that detrimental/negative emotional and mental states long held in the body are connected to illness, and conversely that positive/hopeful affirming emotional and mental states are helpful for our healing.
How I’ve applied Louise Hay’s work in my own life and continue to do so
I’ve referred to Louise Hay’s book You Can Heal Your Life over the years after my friend and business partner suggest I take a look. She had attended affirmation workshops in the past and found them very helpful.
I read the book and was very moved by Louise’s personal story, both by the difficulties she suffered and the life’s work she has founded to redeem her health and wellness. It’s powerful stuff!
As I said previously I keep the book on hand for reference. When I have an illness or an emotional upset I refer to the table towards the back of the book where you can look up your Problem, Probable Cause and read a New Thought Pattern or affirmation, to replace the existing one which may not be helping you heal.
My personal favorite is ‘I approve of myself‘ which can be very useful if you are starting affirmation work or if you have been on the self healing road for a while. Louise Hay suggests using it ‘500 times a day if need be’ and I believe I’ve been in that place at one time or another.
If I need to use an affirmation I write it on a couple of yellow stickies, put one on my bathroom mirror, one in my purse and say the affirmation a minimum of 3 times each time, 3 times a day.
If you haven’t done affirmation work before this may seem strange to you – but it really does work!
