The 9 Human Design Centers – Two More Than Before
In the Human Design Chart model, we all have 9 energy centers or Chakras. This is two more than the Hindu Chakra model of 7 Chakras.
The Heart Chakra now has its own little triangular area on the right-hand side. In my illustration above, it’s pumping out Willfulness and Desire – the arrow and the heart.
Splitting off from that, we have a NEW Chakra called the GPS, Self, or Identity Chakra. On the illustration, it’s the diamond-shaped Chakra in the middle of the chart with the satellite dish inside.
And finally, there is a SPLEEN Chakra. It’s the triangle on the lower left side that has ‘Game On’ inside it. That makes nine Human Design centers.
Why Do We Have 9 Chakras, Now? The Piscean Age Had 7…
According to data recorded as Human Design Centers in our charts, we genetically mutated into 9-chakra beings in the 1780s. This was also known as the last Golden Age.
We have continued to struggle with our old 7 Chakra ways of doing things in the world. There are now new potentials that being a 9-centered being offers us.
In the sense of 7-Chakra behavior, which was all about the Piscean age, we aligned strongly with: –
- Fixed roles and established structure.
- The age of engineering.
- Dominance and rulership.
- Organized religion.
The Potentials Latent Within 9 Centered Humans
So, we have the potential to work with 9 human design centers – or Chakras – right now.
However, we are still adjusting to those abilities. This is because we still habitually resonate with our long-term genetic inheritance of being 7-centered beings.
With 9 Human Design Centers, we have the potential to move away from: –
- Fixed roles and structure: creating a freer society with more options.
- Use our engineering and technological skills to create alternative energy resources for the common good.
- Create new governmental structures and global political approaches – replacing the old feudal systems. Dictatorship is nothing new.
- Expressing our religious views or spiritual views independent of larger organizations.

The Fifth Root Race and Nine Chakras – What Next?
Edgar Cayce, a famous Akashic Records Reader in the USA, predicted this change in his own words. He didn’t know about Human Design in his lifetime (1877-1945).
Cayce foresaw a transition toward humans he called ‘the Fifth Root Race’. He predicted people being born who: –
- Perceive unity rather than division.
- Awaken latent intuitive and psychic faculties.
- Live with greater alignment between soul and body.
- Understand themselves as co-creators with the divine.
He saw the Fifth Root Race creating a frequency shift in awareness.
In modern-day terms, if you are on a spiritual journey, you may recognize some of the above energetic experiences. You may already be on the path of alignment with your 9 Human Design centers.

9 Chakras Do Create a Different Dynamic
As we spiritually awaken, we realize that many of our old human ways are outdated and need to be released. The struggle comes when people hold onto the old ways of relating. This has continued because there is a huge focus on survival fears and a need to dominate to feel safe.
Part of this desire for release, and the associated fear of it, is demonstrated in modern discussions online. For example, the many discussions of patriarchal versus matriarchal societal roles and approaches.
Leaning Into 9 Human Design Centers
Once we lean into our 9-Centered selves through our Human Design centers, we can accelerate our frequency shift through: –
The Heart and Self – Separating Will and Desire
Separating Will and Desire from the previously central Heart Chakra to create a stronger sense of Self, Identity, and direction.
The Human Design Self Center is also identified as having a crystal inside it. This crystal is part of the system of the Akashic Records. In all of us, it has formed since birth, and is called the Magnetic Monopole. Tuning into this crystal to help us with future decision-making, since it operates just like a modern GPS.
We can use this new energetic awareness to be drawn towards the correct choices for us.
We will receive more clarity around this once we know ourselves and our wills and desires better. This can be learned through energetic study and alignment.

The Spleen Chakra – The Dolphin of the Human Design Centers
Biologically speaking, the spleen stores and filters blood and makes white blood cells that protect you from infection.
From an energetic perspective, the Spleen has an auditory or sonic quality, like a dolphin. People can often ‘sniff’ out danger or fear through their Spleen Chakras.
Combining a new awareness of Self with the Spleen will help us all to understand our motivations. Identifying our fears is the first step on this path.
As evolving humans, we need to learn to relate and resolve differences through processes that don’t require war for resolution.
Learning to Decode Our Emotions Through The Solar Plexus Chakra
Learning to decode our emotional drivers. Through the development of our Solar Plexus Chakra, we’ll be able to lean into sensing, feeling, and interpreting our emotions. Over time, we’ll also increase our ability to sense others’ emotions.
Our unconscious drives will become clearly understood through a deeper emotional connection. We will ultimately be able to relate to the emotions of others telepathically. This is already happening for some people. Currently, through the 7-Center model, we rely on verbal checking and visual cues.
This will radically change how humans relate to each other, since motivations and ideas can’t be hidden or controlled once they can be read.

Learning which Chakras or Human Design Centers are Defined (colored in) will help you to understand your energy.
In your chart, you may also have Human Design centers or Chakras that are white with red circles inside. These are called Undefined Chakras. Their energy runs differently from the Defined ones that are colored in.
Some people also have Open Chakras, shown as completely white on a chart. You will see from Gloria Gaynor’s chart above that she has three of those.
Her Open Chakras are the Heart Chakra, the little triangle with the pink outline. She also has an Open Solar Plexus Chakra: the white triangle with a brown outline on the lower left side. Finally, Gloria has an Open Root Chakra, the square Chakra at the very bottom of the Chart.
Often, people have incarnated with Open Chakras to learn an unusual skill. Their Souls may have intended to offer them the opportunity to grow unique wisdom in their lives.
