Writing letters to Loved Ones who have passed can initially seem to be painful, but it’s helpful to help you process grief over time.

Creating Heaven on Earth by Contemplating Your Life Review

Karen Noe’s first book, Through the Eyes of Another: A Medium’s Guide to Creating Heaven on Earth by Encountering Your Life Review (Hay House), invites us to explore a profound question:

What if we could experience our life review before we pass on?

Through the Eyes of Another: A Medium’s Guide to Creating Heaven on Earth by Encountering Your Life Review. (Book available at Amazon).

If you haven’t come across the concept of a life review before, it’s often described as a panoramic reflection that occurs after death; a vivid, multidimensional reliving of one’s life.

But more than a simple “life flashing before your eyes,” it’s said to be an opportunity for deep learning, an intimate understanding of how our actions and relationships have shaped not just our own lives, but the lives of others.

In this view, the life review isn’t judgment; it’s illumination.

You may come to see why certain people crossed your path or why particular challenges appeared when they did.

Some traditions even describe it as a series of heartfelt meetings, soul-to-soul dialogues beyond time, where understanding and compassion replace regret.

Creating Heaven on Earth by Releasing Regret

In her practice as a psychic medium, Karen often receives messages from those who have passed, expressions of love, sorrow, and above all, regret.

To transform these echoes of unfinished emotion, she decided to write letters to everyone who had shaped her life, both living and deceased.

The effect was profound.

The first part of Through the Eyes of Another chronicles Karen’s own life review through this process.

She begins with letters to her three children, then to her ex-husband, her sister, her father, and finally, her late mother.

Each letter becomes an act of release, reconnection, and ultimately peace.

You Don’t Need to Be a Medium to Do This

This is a tender, deeply human book. I recommend reading it somewhere quiet, perhaps in a patch of sunlight or a cozy corner.

Karen’s words reach into hidden corners of the heart, gently touching our own unresolved places.

If you’re navigating grief or seeking reconciliation, her process offers a simple yet powerful way to heal.

Her personal journey reminds us that creating Heaven on Earth begins with forgiveness, both given and received.

In her experience, healing radiates outward. As she found peace, so did those around her.

I was Fortunate Enough to Share a Kind of Life Review with my Mother

We had several very open conversations before she passed, and it made her transition gentler for both of us.

With my father, who died when I was nineteen, I didn’t have that chance.

It took years to work through the grief that remained.

It’s not an easy concept to face, reviewing one’s life while still living, but the process can be profoundly restorative.
It’s available to all of us, whether we are a medium or not.

How to Conduct Your Own Life Review

In the second half of her book, Karen shifts from writing a memoir to creating a guidebook, showing readers how to conduct their own life reviews through letter writing.

Together with a group of women, she experimented with different ways to write these letters, exploring what to say, how to say it, and what emotional intention to hold.

Their conclusion was clear: the intention behind the letter is everything.

Write with the aim of peace and healing, for yourself and for everyone involved. When that intention is pure, the words will find their way.

Three Types of Letters to Write

Karen’s method centers on three kinds of letters:

  1. The Gratitude Letter – to express appreciation and acknowledgment.
  2. The Forgiveness Letter – to release resentment and restore harmony.
  3. The Letter to Yourself – to bring compassion and closure to your own heart.

She also includes ways to connect with loved ones who have passed, and perhaps even receive signs or “responses” from them in subtle ways.

Most importantly, Karen reminds us to stay present with those who are still here and how important it is to write, speak, and love now.

Heaven on Earth begins not in the hereafter, but in this very moment, with the ones we hold dear.

  1. I love this. I think it could be especially helpful for those who think or know, that they should have such conversations with loved ones who are still alive or around, and yet the communication would be painful or otherwise too difficult to manage. Thanks for the review!

    • I agree Candace, writing the letters is a great medium whether they can (or will) be sent, or not.

Hope some people enter this competition, I have a signed copy of Karen Noe’s Through the Eyes of Another to give away!

  2. Sounds like an interesting book. I’ve been wondering about this topic for awhile, but haven’t found any good reads on it yet. Might have to give this a try.

Cool blog as well! I’ll be back.

Expressing our feelings to the people we love and had left us will always be an emotional experience. I have an aunt who is also my godmother and now has stage 4 liver cancer. She is one the kindest persons in this world that. Were able to maintain our ties with her children even thru letters and pictures that my family had kept until now, considering we have not met our cousins ever since. Since I am in the Philippines and she is in CA, I am not sure I can still get to see her alive. So what I do is pray and talk to her in my mind, thanking her for all the kindness she had show to me and my family.

  4. Maureen Sullivan says:

” Karen created a letter-writing experiment in order to decide how to write the letters, what type of letters to write and most importantly the intention to be set behind each and every letter – that of peace and healing for everyone concerned.”

I found this last part of your post to be the most interesting, and resourceful. Writing, as any fellow author knows, can be such a powerful tool to awakening the most buried feelings. Regardless of the platform, for example writing a letter, utilizing your skills are something we should all work towards.

I found this post interesting for the fact that I experienced the same type of Spiritual Awakening – and it was strange, at first. It did however lend me to an entirely different world of self-discovery and an amazing adventure.

If you’ve experienced any sort of spiritual awakening, connection or revelation I would love to hear about! Leave me a comment on my blog. http://magnificence.authorsxpress.com/
