Angels at the Table by Debbie Macomber – great gift for Christmas | Book review by Mom On A Spiritual Journey

I recently read Angels at the Table by Debbie Macomber (thanks again to Andover Library KS for their great new book section!).

It's a short novel about angelic intervention and free will and is a love story, too.

Whether you believe in Angels at the Table or not - a fun read.

Archangel Gabriel allows angels Shirley, Goodness and Mercy to take an angel-in-training, Will, down to Earth to watch the New Years' celebrations.

They find themselves in trouble when Will is drawn to stand in the celebrating crowds in Times Square and notices two lonely people, a guy, and a girl.  He gives them a nudge with his wing and they connect and like each other.

So what's wrong with that?  They were destined to meet, but not that soon - so their relationship becomes blocked by a number of complications.

Archangel Gabriel allows angels Shirley, Goodness and Mercy to take an angel-in-training, Will, down to Earth to watch the New Years’ celebrations.

They find themselves in trouble when Will is drawn to stand in the celebrating crowds in Times Square and notices two lonely people, a guy and a girl.  He gives them a nudge with his wing and they connect and like each other.

So what’s wrong with that?  They were destined to meet, but not that soon – so their relationship becomes blocked by a number of complications.

Archangel Gabriel is doing his best to teach the Angels simply to be Prayer Ambassadors and not interfere since free will must be the rule…but they find themselves inveigled none the less, resulting in several comedic moments for all concerned.

Can’t help seeing Angels at the Table as a movie at some point.

This book would definitely make a great movie, especially the Taxi scene with the flying newspaper – I was already thinking about casting whilst reading it and felt as if Tom Hanks should be in there somewhere!

Christmas labels and a Christmas gift recipe in the back of the book

The book also contains a delicious recipe for Peppermint Bark for family and friends and a Christmas gift label.

Whether you believe in Angels or not, or perhaps you have friends who do, this is a light read (pun intended) that I think quite a few spiritually inclined people will enjoy.

I’m going to be sitting and reading a number of books this Christmas with my (decaf) tea by my side.  Perhaps there’ll be Angels at the Table…

  • I started this blog in 2010 to remember my British mum Margaret, who was highly intuitive, but hid it almost forever - until she told me later in her life. She also told me not to hide what I know, and to write about it! So, here it is.

I'm also a mom, writer, budding artist, and lover of fantasy novels - and third in a female line of intuitives. Over time, this blog has grown to reflect my spiritual journey, and the readings, coachings, teachings and sessions that I offer.

In my previous careers, I have worked in UK Broadcast Media (BBC, Sky, Channel 4, ITV). I trained people on computers in a UK Water Authority, then ran a freelance training business, followed by a partner business where we incorporated NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming) and Accelerated learning into technical business trainings.

During this time I co-created a successful long-running course incorporating Accelerated Learning techniques (1998-2021) and taught business trainers course design techniques, too.

I hope you enjoy my writing, and maybe you'll consider booking a reading or requesting a chart if you are intrigued by what is offered here.

Lots of light, and thanks for visiting!
