Why is the patriarchy coming to our awareness now?

Patriarchy and the patriarchal energy

Why is the patriarchy and patriarchal energy coming into our awareness so strongly now?

This question has been coming up for me lately as I go through a healing process of my own.  I am releasing the consequences of being raised in a patriarchal family from my life.

5,000-year cycles of consciousness

patriarchyDuring the latest consciousness cycle of 5,000 years, women went from hearth owners, landowners and matriarchs to beings lacking property (even a dowry was gifted from their family to a male partner), ultimately losing most rights in a societal sense, even becoming unable to to take part in religious ceremony or practice which had once been the norm in many cultures.

Ultimately losing their voices, their rights, and even their personhood.

Introducing a society where a woman is ruled by coverture.

NOUN [PLURAL PA·TRI·ARCH·IES.] 1.A form of social organization in which the father is the supreme authority in the family, clan, or tribe.   Descent is reckoned in the male line, with the children belonging to the father’s clan or tribe.
2.A society, community, or country based on this social organization.
3.A social system in which power is held by men, through cultural norms and customs that favor men and withhold opportunity from women.   The corporate glass ceiling is one consequence of patriarchy in education and business.
4.(often initial capital letter) the men in power in a society (usually preceded by the): The Patriarchy is vested in the maintenance of the status quo.

The Patriarchy – being seen and not heard

Women and children being seen and not heard over centuries became the norm.  Women were sometimes not even seen at all in society, and tucked away inside a property with its’ own gardens.

This slow decline in female public self-expression resulted in women being berated even for speaking at times.  Women were berated for acting in their own right, becoming everything from a ‘gossip’ to a ‘scold’, even a ‘witch’ burned at the stake.

As human evolutionary consciousness slowly turned out of the dark ages, women began intuitively to awaken and make more daring moves.

There have been strong female figures throughout the ages, but they had to do their best within existing patriarchal frameworks.  For some enlightening homework, check out The Ascent of Woman on Netflix.

Writing, demonstrating and asking for the vote

Women began to write, often under male pen-names (from Colette to J.K. Rowling) and became suffragettes and bra-burners.   This exposed social constructs which held women back from expressing their creativity in all realms.

The patriarchy kept all of the women’s creative energy contained in one place.  Procreating and raising children was as a womans role in life.

Fractal Time and the Aquarian Age

Now in the Aquarian age, a new 5,000-year consciousness cycle begins and the divine feminine energy rises to re-balance the equation.

“Now is the first time we have the understanding, the need, and the technology to reach into the realm of all possibilities and choose the kind of future that will arise from the chaos of the present.”  Gregg Braden

patriarchyIn Fractal Time: The Secret of 2012 and a New World Age, bestselling author Gregg Braden merges the modern discoveries of nature’s patterns (fractals) with the ancient view of a cyclic universe. The result is a powerful model of time – fractal time.  A realistic window into what we can expect for our lives, and for our world, as we approach 2012 – the end of the current World Age cycle – and beyond. We have the opportunity to choose our future. Can we create a new epoch of peace, cooperation, and healing? (source: trans4mind.com).

We’re living at the end of time. Not the end of the world, but the end of a world age – a 5,125-year cycle of time – and the way we’ve known the world throughout that time. The present world age began in 3114 B.C. and will end in A.D. 2012. Because the end of anything also marks the beginning of what comes next, we’re also living the start of what follows the end of time: the next world age, which ancient traditions called the great cycle.

Due to new democratic systems and (ironically, to some degree) capitalism, more women can raise their consciousness and their eyes from a total focus upon the family to another powerhouse of feminine energy, that of creative endeavor.Click To Tweet

Women create

Women create.  It’s a natural state of mind for us.

Once we become enabled to create, the balance of power will change.

Let the creativity continue!
